The Portage High School boys’ swim team placed third at Saturday's sectional. Top eight performers for the Indians were Nick Eftenoff, Matt Extin, Mikee Janes, Alberto Del Real, Patrick Sobkowski, Peyton Goetschel, Jason Taylor, Alberto Corral, Noah Kitchen, Brandon Reyes and Louis Coleman.
John Fannin was the sectional champion in diving, and Brandon Crosby placed second. They will both continue their season at regionals Tuesday night.
The Indians' boys basketball varsity team was a 55-51 winner over visiting La Porte on Friday. Luke Kizer had 21 points to lead Portage, while Jordan Collazo had 17 points, Jacob Bearss had eight and Michael Lattanzi chipped in seven.
The Portage JV lost, 43-44 despite 10 points from Tyler Meux and nine from Canaan Cooper.
