The Purdue men’s basketball team will visit Clemson on Wednesday, Nov. 28, as part of the 14th-annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods. ESPN announced the lineup on Monday in a joint release with both conferences.
After hosting Miami in last season’s event, the Boilermakers will take to the road in the Challenge for the second time in three seasons. Purdue claimed a 58-55 overtime victory at Virginia Tech in 2010. |

Purdue senior basketball players Robbie Hummel and Brittany Rayburn have been named the school’s winners of the Big Ten Medal of Honor for the 2011-12 academic year.
The Big Ten Conference endowed a Medal of Honor in 1914 to be awarded annually at each university to the student-athlete demonstrating the greatest proficiency in scholarship and athletics. Beginning in 1982, the award went coed as each school named a male and female student-athlete. |

The L ake County Steelers will face a predominately Indiana schedule for the first time in the teams history. Currently the Steelers are scheduled to play 4 non-league games and 8 MidStates Football League opponents. Out of the 12 games the Steelers are scheduled to play, 10 of those games will be played in the State of Indiana 5 games in Portage, 4 games in the Indianapolis area, 2 games in the state of Illinois (Peoria and Lincolnway Ill) and a non league game in Ft Wayne. |

The Wall Street Journal has an intriguing piece today about the most monetarily valuable NCAA basketball programs (if they could be sold like a professional franchise). Surprisingly, Louisville tops the charts. Not surprisingly, Indiana is No. 3, and Purdue made the top 20 at No. 18.
Oh, and congrats to "that team from the SEC" for winning the championship last night. |

Purdue All-American forward Robbie Hummel has been selected as the 2012 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award winner for men’s basketball. The announcement and trophy presentation were made Friday by Lowe’s, an official corporate sponsor of the NCAA, during the open practice sessions of Final Four Friday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Hummel is Purdue’s first-ever winner of the award, given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in NCAA Division I men’s basketball. The award is chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I men’s basketball head coaches, national media and fans.
