National Assisted Living Week Ends with a Red Carpet Event

The “stars” were in attendance at Rittenhouse Senior Living of Portage for a celebratory banquet on September 13th, bringing National Assisted Living Week to a close. The week celebrated the connections created between the staff and residents, as well as the role of this healthcare industry in providing care for the seniors of America. “Homemade Happiness,” the theme of the week, recognized the efforts of all the individuals working together to create a home out of the residence.

Tours of the community were part of the week’s events, to give families a chance to learn more about the facility. The residents participated in the events by wearing a different color each day, determined by the staff. At the end of the week banquet, residents were encouraged to dress up for a “Hollywood Red Carpet” event!

The red carpet was lined with the names of all of the residents printed on stars. “We think you are all superstars!” enthused Dolores Ughetti, Activity Director at Rittenhouse, as she addressed the group. A tasty buffet of finger foods gave attendees something to munch on while waiting for the awards ceremony.

Assisted living residents were honored at the banquet through awards handed out. Everyone received an honor, from the “Best Hostess” to the “Most Generous” and even the “Happiest Lady” and “Greatest Scrabble Player.” “We appreciate our residents here,” said Ughetti. “They are all getting something positive today!
