A Portage Life in the Spotlight: Aaron Brehmer

If one thing is for sure, it is that Portage High School senior Aaron Brehmer has made a lasting impact on his school, community, and peers through his involvement with many different activities.

Brehmer has played baseball since he was three years old and continued all four years of high school where he earned two Varsity Letters for his dedication.

“Since I was three years old I played little league and travel ball before making the high school team all four years,” Brehmer said.

When not on the baseball diamond you may find Brehmer on the football gridiron. Brehmer achieved many great accomplishments during his time with Portage football.

“In football I was a three-year letter winner, MVP, and Mr. Football,” Brehmer said.

In his senior year, Brehmer was selected by his peers as a trusted friend to attend the annual Natural Helpers spring break retreat.

“Brehmer is funny, caring, a good leader and a good friend,” said PHS senior Royce Johnson. “His attitude makes you feel like you can take on the world.”

Brehmer has also worked with Champions Together, an organization for students with disabilities.

“Champions Together is an organization that gives kids with disabilities a chance to play team sports like track and field, basketball, baseball and flag football,” Brehmer said. “I played a role in this by trying to raise money for the organization and also helping organize a team basketball game with a few of our special needs kids.”

All of the activities and sports that Brehmer has involved himself with have taught him things that will help him in the future.

“I have learned how to be a better person in all of these things and how to be a leader,” Brehmer said. “Also, I learned a lot about myself and others in these activities.”

Reflecting on high school Brehmer appreciates the titles he has earned.

“My most memorable moments are winning Mr. Football and being a Natural Helper because my peers choose and trusted me with the titles,” Brehmer said.

While his final semester at PHS is coming to an end Brehmer has some advice for the underclassmen.

“Work hard, keep focused on what you want to accomplish and stay true to yourself,” Brehmer said.

Upon graduation, Brehmer plans to attend Carroll University in Wisconsin where he will major in Exercise Science and minor in Health and Human Interaction. Brehmer will also be playing football as a Carroll Pioneer.
