A Portage Life in Spotlight: Kaitlin Doud

kaitlindoud-1Portage High School senior Kaitlin Doud goes above and beyond when it comes to whatever life throws her way.

Doud takes part in a few of extracurricular activities PHS has to offer. She is president of the National Honor Society, captain of both the girls’ basketball and softball teams and a member of the National Foreign Language Honor Society.

“I know that I have a lot of responsibilities and having to make sure they are fully met, but I wouldn’t trade them for the anything. Having these leadership positions have made me grow both as an athlete and as an individual. Although it may be stressful at times, I love the roles I have obtained and fulfill them to the best of my ability,” said Doud.

Doud has been involved in Portage High School Athletics since her freshman year on both the basketball and softball teams. She has also been playing travel softball playing the top teams around the country for nine years now. Her softball career will be continued after high school as she will be attending Butler University on a softball scholarship.

“Some goals are to one day receive my master’s degree and become a physician assistant. I also want to give back to the athletic community and become a coach, passing down the life lessons that I have learned through athletics. Also, I want to host charity events benefitting smaller charities that are not as common to the public to help spread their awareness,” said Doud.

Doud is driven and filled with determination to be great in life. Even with all of the titles she currently holds, she remains modest and grateful of the people she claims she could not have achieved any of her goals without; her family, friends, and coaches.

“My family has always been there for me since day one, just to push me far enough to make me grow each and every day, but also to be there for the best support system I could ever ask for. My amazing friends also find a way to put a smile on my face and without them I would not be where I am today. Lastly, my coaches especially the PHS basketball program, they are always there to help and listen in any way, shape or form. I could not do it without all the loving support from all the amazing people in my life,” said Doud.
