Methodist Hospitals is pleased to announce the establishment of the Methodist Hospitals Champion Medal, an annual award designed to honor the profound influence of individuals whose unwavering dedication and service to Methodist Hospitals have shaped its existence and propelled its mission to deliver exceptional healthcare to all in need.
The inaugural Methodist Hospitals Champion Medal will be presented to prominent Northwest Indiana businessman, Mr. Mamon Powers, Jr. at Methodist Hospitals Foundation’s gala on June 1, 2024. In addition to his significant civic presence and philanthropic commitments throughout the region, Mr. Powers has continued his family’s legacy of service to Methodist Hospitals; a legacy that began with his father, the late Mamon Powers, Sr.
Mr.Mamon Powers, Jr., has served Methodist Hospitals in many governance capacities. His firm conviction to preserve the Gary hospital and carry its mission into other communities is a theme that anchored his leadership as Chairperson of the Methodist Hospitals Board of Directors, Committee Chairperson of its Finance Committee, Board Member of the Methodist Hospitals Foundation, and most recently, as a Life Advisory Member of the hospital’s board. His voice of reason, diplomacy, and generosity always reflected a deep commitment to serve others by being grounded in principles of kindness.
