Neely Abegg, a junior at Portage High School, got first place in the Duck Stamp Competition with her drawing of two wood ducks. She beat out 546 other students in the state of Indiana who submitted work to this competition! She will be honored in Seymour, Indiana at the Muscatatuck Wildlife Reserve on May 13th with a plaque and $100 reward.
The school will also be given recognition. Her drawing will then be judged on a national level, with all the other winners from other states, and if she wins will receive a $1,000 cash award and her drawing then will be used on the Duck Stamps.
This is a huge honor, and the high school has never had a first place winner in this competition!
