Porta-Botz Finish 2016-17 Season with 3 Awards


Portage Robotics, The Porta-Botz!, closed out their regular season schedule in great fashion coming home from the Crown Point VEX Starstruck Tournament with 3 Awards.

Middle School Team 25678K, Myles Kappes and Grant Kappes, won the Tournament Championship Trophy upsetting the #1 Alliance.

High School Team 2567Z, Daija Black, Stephen Kapalko, Scott Watson, Cody Potts and Kendric Horton, earned the Excellence Award for overall achievement in Skills, Interview and tournament rankings.

And, High School team 2567A, Ty Lyons, Brendan Dilbeck, Derrek Rushing, Kely Schafer, Julian Favela, Faith Zettler and Sanja Kirova, added to their trophy count by claiming the Design Award for best project documentation using the engineering design process.

The Porta-Botz! will next compete at the Indiana State VEX Robotics Championships on February 25th, in Zionsville, IN. The team is sending 7 robots to the championships, including 3 middle school and 4 high school teams.
