Saylor Elementary
Mrs. Brown's class is learning about matter in class and today the students made Ooblek. Oobleck is a non-newtonian substance that acts like a liquid, and can be poured, but that acts like a solid when you apply force to it by pushing it or squeezing it. It's made by mixing cornstarch with water. They had to decide if it was a solid or a liquid based on its properties. It was messy, but they had fun.

PHS Introduction to Transportation 2
A group of students from Mr. Kappes’s “Introduction to Transportation 2” class visited the Porter County Municipal Airport. “Eagle Aircraft” hosted the annual event, which serves as the capstone-project for the Transportation curriculum. As part of the field trip, students toured the facility and received 1 hour of hands-on flying, actually piloting a Cessna Skyhawk, under the instruction of professional pilots. In preparation for the field trip, students studied concepts of lift and flight, conducted wind tunnel tests on wing sections, designed, built and flew electric model airplanes, and completed 15 hours of flight simulation training. This was the 14th consecutive year for the field trip.
