Breaking Good News: Strack & Van Til Stays in Northwest Indiana: Local Group Wins Bid for Grocery Store Chain

When news broke in the first quarter of 2017 that Strack & Van Til would be sold by their parent company Central Grocers to Jewel-Osco, many Northwest Indiana residents saw it as another "the big guy wins again" story. However, thanks to a group of locally-focused investors, Strack & Van Til will stay in the hands of Northwest Indiana ownership after winning the auction bid on July 11, 2017. The news was first reported on WJOB

Last month, Jewel-Osco even secured a $100 million bid for the local grocer, but the new group found some light in their most recent proposal.

Dating back to the 1950's, Strack & Van Til has been servicing the tens of thousands of Northwest Indiana residents with quality service and products. For decades the organization has been a cornerstone in people's lives, with reliability and quality that is second to none in the region. The organization has also given back with hundreds of thousands of dollars to organizations throughout Northwest Indiana and has made an impact with so many lives and initiatives.

With recent renovations to stores in Schererville, Valparaiso, Hobart, and more, Strack & Van Til has continually demonstrated a commitment to serving Northwest Indiana residents with their "Indiana Made" motto, and never before has that motto been displayed as evidently as with this news.

The "Indiana Made" slogan is all about serving local people with local products and local services. Today we know what that truly means for Northwest Indiana and those invested in the prosperity of our region.

Stay tuned for more details.
