Chamber Talk: It’s Like Losing a Friend

With every year’s new Directory comes a new membership listing in both alphabetical and categorical sections. Many names have been in each publication for decades. New names show up on an annual basis.

The saddest part of a new directory is the part that goes unseen by most. That part is the list of members that are not placed in the directory because their business has closed or they failed to see the value of their membership dues.

The Chamber staff is committed to helping every business thrive. Our business referrals are to Chamber members only. Our goal is to create and generate support and revenue for each Chamber member. Forty percent of our annual budget comes through renewed memberships. One hundred percents of our efforts go to ensuring the success of those renewals.

The Chamber works with our membership offering payment plans and flexibility in billing. It is only after repeated requests for payment that a member would be removed from active status in our Chamber.

The most difficult job the Executive Director has is to remove a member from our Chamber. It is like losing a friend. It is difficult to understand how a business will not accept the Chamber’s help, and then cancel membership stating the Chamber provided nothing for them. Our Chamber is your Chamber.

Spend a few moments in the days or weeks to come, seeing what your Chamber can do for you! Thanks to the friends we have, our Chamber is growing and continues to service our membership and our community.
