Lakeshore News Tonight Reporter Mike Janssen will travel to Haiti as part of a mercy mission organized by a local charter service. Janssen’s special report will air Friday, February 19, 2010 at 9 p.m. on Lakeshore Public Television.
Valparaiso businessman Nick Popovich donated the use of his plane to fly relief supplies to victims of the Haiti earthquake. Thursday morning, February 18, a flight carrying flood, water, medical equipment and clothing departed from the Gary/Chicago International Airport for a one-day trip to Haiti. Passengers include medical personnel to attend to the injured. Three Haitians in need of medical attention will be on the return flight to the U.S.
