This fall marks the 40th anniversary of the Portage Indians winning the IHSAA State Football Championship. The Indians under Hall of Fame Coach Les Klein defeated Evansville Reitz at North Central High School to win the title.
The Portage High School Athletic Department would like to honor the 1977 team for winning the state title on September 22, 2017 before the Chesterton game.
We are asking for help in tracking down the Indians. Please help us spread the word about the event. Anyone with questions or contact information should contact Athletic Director Kelly Bermes at 764-6051.
The event will include a social gathering in the cafeteria prior to the game. The team and coaches, along with PA announcer Jim Lundie will be recognized prior to kickoff.
