Valparaiso pitcher Jared Lasky pitched a perfect game, striking out 12 of the 15 batters he faced on Tuesday in the Vikings' five-inning victory.

Portage 9, Highland 5 (Freshman Baseball)

James Wineingerstruck out four through five solid innings and drove in four runs on two hits for Portage, who prevailed in the non-conference match-up. Jamie Roman went 3-for-3 with four runs and three steals to lead the offensive charge for the Indians.

Alex Constanders added two hits, two run and three stolen bases as Chris Liberto and David Herrod both had three hits and an RBI.

Portage will host Valparaiso next Tuesday.

Valparaiso 5, Hobart 0 (Girls Tennis)

Valparaiso High School defeated Hobart, 5-0 on Wednesday.

Valpo singles winners included Rachel Crookston 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1, Madisen Kammerer 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 and Rachel Willing 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3.

The Vikings also won the junior varisty contest, 9-0.

Portage 5, Andrean 0 (Girls Tennis)

Single winners for Portage included Mandy Haupt, Emily Sajda and Sammie Thompson. The Indians had double wins from Lauren Wilk and Emily Vahary and Patty Mota and Haley Mergl.

Portage won the junior varsity match, 8-0.

Valparaiso vs. Lake Central (Boys Track)

Valparaiso competed against Lake Central in a boys track dual meet on Wednesday. No team score was kept.

Charles Sykes of Lake Central won the 100 meter dash, turning in a finals time of 11.15 seconds. He was also victorious in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.84 seconds.

Individual winners for Valparaiso included Jacob Chapman (400 meter dash, 51.00), Andrew Jankowski (1600 meter run, 4:31.79) and Joseph Carbello (300 meter hurdles IM, 43.33).

The Viking team of Carbello, Adam Foust, Ricardo Rosario Hoover and Liam McGrath turned in a win in the 4x100 meter relay with a finals time of 44.60 seconds.

Gelen Robinson of Lake Central was the top shot put and discus thrower, turning in throws of 51-11 and 176-05 respectively.

Portage 163, Griffith 188 (Boys Golf)

Jordan Henson turned in a 37 score to lead Portage. Eric Lewis (41) and Collin Graber (42) also shot well for the Indians.

Portage won the JV meet, 215-247.
