The Duneland Athletic Conference was home to two of the state's Top 3 teams heading into state, and it is no wonder that seven of the 11 gymnastics named to the All-Conference team were from Valparaiso and Chesterton. Though those two schools boasted the most number of gymnasts on the team, Merrillville's Heather Orsorio was named the conference's Most Valuable Gymnast.

Portage Sends 7 to 2016-17 All-DAC Wrestling Team, Chesterton's Davison Named MVP

portage-wrestling-team-2017The Duneland Athletic Conference has named its 2016-17 All-Duneland Conference Wrestling team, consisting of wrestlers at each weight division. The first-place Portage Indians led the way with seven wrestlers on the team, though Conference MVP went to Andrew Davison of Chesterton High School. Davison was the Indiana State Champion in the 195-pound division.

The McDonald’s All American Hometown Heroes, presented by American Family Insurance, made a stop in Gary today to recognize one of the 24 girls selected to play in the 40th Annual All American Girls Game. West Side Leadership Academy senior point guard Dana Evans will represent Northwest Indiana.

The Duneland Athletic Conference released its 2016 All-Duneland Conference Teams and MVP this week, with Crown Point's Delaney Benich taking the conference's Most Valuable Player.
