IBCA/Subway Boys All-State Honors Set as Top Senior, Underclass Players Receive 'Supreme 15' Accolades for 2016-17

Seventy-nine Indiana high school seniors -- 40 boys and 39 girls -- have been chosen as first-team Academic All-State by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association, it was announced Thursday (March 9).
Merrillville High School's Jasmine Wright was named as the 2016-17 Duneland Athletic Conference MVP as the All-DAC Conference Team was named for girls basketball.
The Duneland Athletic Conference has named its 2016-17 All-Duneland Conference Wrestling team, consisting of wrestlers at each weight division. The first-place Portage Indians led the way with seven wrestlers on the team, though Conference MVP went to Andrew Davison of Chesterton High School. Davison was the Indiana State Champion in the 195-pound division.
The McDonald’s All American Hometown Heroes, presented by American Family Insurance, made a stop in Gary today to recognize one of the 24 girls selected to play in the 40th Annual All American Girls Game. West Side Leadership Academy senior point guard Dana Evans will represent Northwest Indiana.

The Duneland Athletic Conference released its 2016 All-Duneland Conference Teams and MVP this week, with Crown Point's Delaney Benich taking the conference's Most Valuable Player. The three teams tied for first in the Conference, Crown Point, Valparaiso and Chesterton, each had four girls named to the All-Conference Team.
The 1st-place La Porte Slicers led the Duneland Athletic Conference with eight players named to the 2016 All-DAC team, including Juan Villa and Owen Strieter, named Most Valuable Kicker and Most Valuable Punter, respectively.
