At The Courts of NWI, Savannah Hefty is starting a class for children with special needs! Registration night for it is Feb 19th, you can come try out the gym and use the equipment for free that night from 5-6 to see if your child will like it and to explore the gym! Every Sunday night from 5 - 6 p.m., weather permitting, the players of The Challenger League play a game at the Portage Little League fields. The Challenger Division of Little League allow children from age 4 - 18 (22 if the person is still a high school student) with physical, mental and/or developmental challenges to enjoy playing baseball. Each player has a "buddy" to encourage them and assist as necessary" each player gets to bat and play in the infield or outfield; each player gets to score. Each player plays with enthusiasm and to the best of his or her ability. It is amazing to watch these youngsters and their buddies work together.

Excitement levels were high as Portage football players, cheerleaders, students, teachers, and residents gathered Thursday evening for the annual Portage High School homecoming parade. In anticipation for the big game Friday night against Michigan City, everyone attending was in high spirits, gleaming with Portage Pride.

Every year, The Portage High School Cheerleading Team attends a cheer camp during the summer. On June 22, the team returned from the four-day camp with awards and All-American cheerleaders.

On Thursday, March 17th, the Winter Sports athletes of Portage High School gathered in the East Auditorium for their annual awards ceremony. Coaches, family, and friends cheered as their student was awarded a 4th year letter or an MVP recognition. Afterward, each sports division retreated to its own break out area for a more personal, specific ceremony.

Cara Nebel from Portage, Indiana has committed to be a RedHawk for the 2016 Volleyball Season. Cara has been playing volleyball since the 7th grade; “at the time I joined it was to learn a new sport, but now it is something I really enjoy playing volleyball because of the fast pace.”
