PBA50 South Shore Open to begin Aug. 5

PBA-World-Series-BowlingPro-Am kicks off tourney

The PBA50 South Shore Open will take to the lanes beginning Monday, Aug. 5 at Olympia Lanes in Hammond. This will mark the 14th year the senior bowling tournament has been hosted along the South Shore.

On Monday, Aug. 5, the public is invited to bowl with a pro during a 3-6-9 tournament in the Pro-Am where each bowler will receive an automatic strike in the third, sixth and ninth frame. Adults may register to play for $25, and children may register for $10. Games begin at 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Children will play for trophies and plaques and adults will compete for cash prizes.

The best 120 senior bowlers from across the nation will participate in the PBA50 tournament Tuesday, Aug. 6, through Thursday, Aug. 8. Games begin at 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m on Tuesday, Aug 6, and Wednesday, Aug. 7.

On Thursday, Aug. 8, qualifying players will go head-to-head in best-of-three games. Players qualifying 25 through 40 will begin at 9:00 a.m. and winners as well as players qualifying 17 through 24 will begin at 10:30 a.m.

In best-of-five games, winners from the previous matches and players qualifying 9 through 16 will begin at 12:30 p.m., and winners and players qualifying 1 through 8 will bowl at 2:00 p.m. A round of eight, best-of-three game will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the finals will start at 7:00 p.m.
