PHS Athletics Roundup: Basketball, Wrestling, Swimming

Both the JV and Varsity Basketball teams lost to Lake Central Friday night. Luke Kizer scored 11 points, Tyler Gonzalez 10 and Michael Lattanzi 7.

On Saturday, the wrestling team competed in the individual regionals at Crown Point. Portage had 8 wrestlers advance to semi state:

Eric Peek third place
Julian Torres first place
Jason Spence second place
Danny Roach third place
Zach Thorn third place
Robert Espinoza fourth place
Jake Wright fourth place
Exvonte Jones Third place

The girls’ swim team competed in sectionals on Saturday Portage placed 3rd out of 13 teams. Top 8 Finishers - Sierra King, Tayler Bayer, Courtney Joseph, Jordan Parker, Mackenzie Barcelli, Emery Beltran, Morgan Knight, Jordan Simmons, Alexis Reddington

Sierra King won the 100 breaststroke for the 4th consecutive year, qualifying for the state meet next weekend

Mackenzie Barcelli placed 4th in Diving, qualifying for Regionals tomorrow night at Penn High School
