Obstetrics

Pregnancy is a very exciting time in your life, and we understand that. In a professional, but relaxed atmosphere, our attentive and compassionate staff are trained in up-to-date comprehensive obstetrics, including high risk conditions.

Dr. Wirsing, Dr. Jones and Lisa, Nurse Midwife, provide labor and delivery services exclusively at Porter Hospital in Valparaiso, Indiana. They rotate hospital call daily and any one of them may attend your hospital birth. Although we support low intervention births at the hospital, our practitioners do not assist with home births or offer back up services to home births.

Obstetric patients are cared for by our doctors, nurse practioner and a nurse-midwife as a team; ensuring that patients meet and get to know each of them during their prenatal care. We offer a unique, rewarding and individualized birthing and newborn experience. Our nurse midwife Lisa and Dr. Jones host Heartwood Tea, a monthly lactation support group for new and expectant mothers.

We are equipped for minor in-office surgical procedures including endometrial ablation, hysteroscopy, Essure sterilization, cervical, vaginal and endometrial biopsy, colposcopy, and LEEP services. Hospital procedures include open as well as minimally invasive surgeries for fibroids, cysts, endometriosis, tubal sterilization and endometrial ablations.

Meet Our Team

Christopher M. Wirsing, D.O., FACOOG
Dr. Wirsing was born and raised in Cissna Park, IL. He received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN in 1976. He went on to the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine for his medical degree. Dr. Wirsing did a one year rotating internship at Chicago Osteopathic Hospital and his residency through Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital. He is board certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists. In 2007, Dr. Wirsing studied and received training in office based medical cosmetic procedures from the International Society of Cosmetogynecology in New Jersey and training in office based laser techniques from Cutera. Dr. Wirsing's medical interests include menopausal/hormonal management, osteopathic manipulation, advanced laparoscopic surgery, and skin rejuvenation techniques. He offers services through Physicians For Women PC and Renew.

Mary Ann Meyer Jones, M.D., FACOG
Dr. Jones was born at Porter Hospital and was raised in Wheeler, IN where she graduated from Wheeler High School. She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from Indiana University. She completed her residency training at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. Upon returning to Northwest Indiana she joined Dr. Wirsing's practice in 1997. She is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists. Dr. Jones has special interest in adolescent preventive medicine, high risk obstetrics, bioidentical hormones, and laser spider vein treatment. She offers services through Physicians For Women P.C. and Renew.

Lisa Loudenber, CNM MS
A lifetime Northwest Indiana resident, Lisa Loudenber graduated from Griffith High School and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University Northwest in 1998. She continued her education at the University of Illinois in Chicago by earning her Masters of Science with focus in Nurse-Midwifery in May of 2000. Lisa was certified as a Lactation Consultant in 1990. With more than 30 years of experience in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, Lisa is eager to provide and share in prenatal and well woman care.

Angela Tursman, RN MS WHCNP-BC
Angie was born and raised in Indiana and received her Bachelor of Science Nursing from Purdue University. She received her Masters of Science with a focus in Women's Healthcare at the University of Colorado Health Science Center. As a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner, Angie has been specializing in the needs of women since 2003. Her interests include adolescent healthcare, bioidentical hormones and health promotion with an emphasis on nutrition and exercise. Her personal time is spent raising and enjoying her two sons with her husband and training for marathons.

Insurance & Payment Policies
Physicians For Women participates with a number of major insurance plans. Please contact us to verify that we are in your plan's network. It is important to bring your current insurance card to every visit, and if necessary a primary care physician's referral. As required by your insurance company, you are responsible for the portion of your charges not covered by your insurance policy. Co-payments, coinsurance and deductibles are due at the time of service. We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover Card for your convenience. Special financial arrangements can be made for our obstetrical and surgical patients. If you require assistance, please talk with our insurance coordinator or office manager.
