Committed to helping every customer, we carry regular, short and big and tall size clothing with a size range of 36 to 70 and men's sportswear in sizes medium through 6X. We have a seperate floor devoted to alterations and custom sewing. Our corporate apparel division provides logo wear and customized apparel for retaurants, steel mills, entertainment companies, construction firms, and automobile dealerships. What were some things you learned from your parents that helped you succeed? When we had our store in Gary, I was a little child and I would always help wherever I could and the main thing I remember is my parents saying: "If you work hard, you will succeed." And I've always remembered that and taken that to heart ever since. I think that's why were successful. What would you say the John Cicco name means to you? It means putting the customer first, a commitment to quality and altering the garment to make sure that when the person the person goes out of the store that they look their best and they feel their best. One of the nice things is seeing generations of familes coming in. We've seen dad, we've seen son and grandson. That speaks for itself right there. If we didn't make a quality product, people wouldn't come back. Do you feel like this business has kept your family close? Definitely! It's my dad, my mom, my brother my sister and I, plus our staff is great and they've been with us so long that they're part of the family as well. One of our employees says he's waiting for his adoption papers. So yeah, we're very close-knit. What Makes John Cicco's different from the rest of the competition? Well, we specialize in regular, short, big and tall and when I go on my buying trips I try to find things you can't find in every store. Another thing that sets us apart is our on site alterations. We have five people working full time doing alterations. We can do just about anything the customer wants. We're not afraid to tackle anything. Our goal is to make sure the customer gets what they want, that they look their best and that they feel their best, whatever the occasion may be. Our HistoryWhen John and Marta Cicco started their first store, business was a real stitch. Actually, it was thousands of stitches. John had been Trained as a tailor In Italy and the ability to meld fabric, thread, buttons, and trim into a brand new suit was his stock in trade. It was a skill he learned beginning at age eight. By the ripe old age of 12, John Cicco was sewing custom made clothes. John and Marta came to the United States where they set up their first shop in Gary in 1951. Ready-to-wear clothing was making big in roads in the American apparel industry, but at the Cicco's store, customers could order tailor made suits and accessories or bring in clothing for alterations. Little by little, the Ciccos added off-the-rack inventory to compliment the store's offerings. John and Marta Cicco built a booming business with needle and thread. Today, John Cicco's Menswear is a mainstay of men's fashion in the northwest Indiana marketplace. Today, Tina Cicco Popp and Fred Cicco share the administrative duties, with Tina handling buying and Fred heading the store's Corporate Apparel Division. John and Marta still keep a hand in the family-owned business now managed by their children, including Theresa Cicco who lends a hand on the weekends and during the busy holiday season.
