Over the past two months Hannah's Hope has partnered with other community organizations and businesses, including Portage Township Schools and the Portage Township YMCA to collect pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charity in Chicago. Since starting the collections, Hannah's Hope has collected over 1 million pop tabs to donate to the charity. Special guest Ronald McDonald was even on hand to partake in the exciting event. "Are you kidding me, when a community gets together and we do team work like this, we are able to accomplish so many great things and this is going to benefit a lot of people," McDonald said "fortunately we have people all over the city and all over the world that contribute these pop tabs, so we do have a lot of great people out there donating them." Hannah's Hope founder and mother to the namesake, Mary Martinez was amazed by the outpouring of support from the entire community. The plan "I was very excited when we got the schools involved and we started collecting the tabs and bringing them home," Martinez said "it was way more than I ever expected." Hannah's Hope is hoping that their slogan will come true with this donation, helping Hannah help others. Hannah's Hope will host their third annual golf outing at the Brassie Golf Club in Chesterton on July 14, 2012 and are planning a Volleyball Tournament for some time this summer, the date is to be determined.
