County Departments Collaborate on Storm Water Project

rot3The Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County along with Porter County Parks and Recreation and MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System) are collaborating on a project to bring more rain barrels to the citizens of Porter County. They have worked together to launch a website through Upcycle Products that allows citizens to conveniently order and choose from a variety of rain barrels. They will then have the opportunity to pick them up on Sunday, May 18th at Sunset Hill Farm County Park.

More than 60 Volunteers Participated in Team Up 2 Clean Up

2014-team-up-to-clean-up-01Over 60 volunteers participated in the Portage TOWNSHIP Park Dept.’s 4th Annual Community Team-Up 2 Clean-Up event held last Saturday, April 19th. The Township Parks Department has hosted the event each year since Brendan Clancy, Portage Township Trustee has held his office as Trustee. This year, however, South Haven community groups asked if the event could be a community event instead of just a park event. So the South Haven Little League and the South Haven Fire Department were included, along with the Township’s two parks (Haven Hollow Park and Field of Dreams Park), as project clean-up sites.

Boot Camp at Sunset Sponsored by Porter Regional Hospital

rot3Porter County Parks & Recreation will be offering an eight-week Boot Camp series sponsored by Porter Regional Hospital. Participants will have the opportunity to join a master level trainer at Sunset Hill for an invigorating hour long workout that is guaranteed to work your body from head to toe. Open to men and women 18 years and older.

City Point Church Hosts Helicopter Candy Drop at Woodland Park

Woodland Park Candy drop 2014-1To try to give kids the best start to Easter weekend as possible, City Point Church hosted a candy drop on Saturday the 19th at Woodland Park. The event started at noon with various activities the kids could participate in before the actual candy drop took place.

There were tables set up for kids who wanted to get their faces painted for Easter. On another table, a jar of jelly beans was set up, with the person who guessed the correct amount won the jar filled with the candies.
