There will be vendors and music beginning at 6p and fireworks at dusk. Portage Township Food Pantry volunteers will be located at the entrance gate to accept your donations! Officials Break Ground On Lake Michigan Waterfront Portage Park

Portage-Groundbreaking-1The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers along with Representative Pete Visclosky (IN-1) and officials from the City of Portage broke ground Wednesday afternoon at a ceremony to mark the beginning of the construction on the Lake Michigan Waterfront Portage Park project. This Waterfront Park project will be completed through a partnership between the Army Corps of Engineers and the City of Portage.

NIPSCO and the United Way of La Porte County Donate $60,000 to Lake Hills Elementary

NIPSCOdonation1NIPSCO, along with The La Porte County United Way helped to give young children a head start with kindergarten classes at Lake Hills Elementary with a generous donation of $60,000 to their Kindergarten Countdown Camp program. This donation will also help fund other Kindergarten Countdown Camps throughout La Porte County school districts. This includes Michigan City, Westville and La Porte.

Company Breaks Ground on Expansion as New Runway Opens

rda-airport-groundbreakingIt's been a busy week around the Gary/Chicago International Airport. On Wednesday, Carmeuse Lime & Stone broke ground on a $31 million expansion project that includes a new rail terminal and a waste-to-energy facility near the airport. The Regional Development Authority, the City of Gary and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation are supporting the project with $13.5 million in access road improvements at Buffington Harbor, without which the project would not have gone forward.
