You Don’t Have Time to Live with a Non-Healing Wound

With a recent move to the Valparaiso Medical Center on Roosevelt Road in Valparaiso, Porter’s Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center has gone beyond patient’s expectations for comfort, quality care and accessibility.

Having served patients with non-healing wounds since October 1997, the Center is one of only a few in the region to offer wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy in one location. “We provide advanced therapies and have two newly purchased hyperbaric chambers,” shared the Center’s Outpatient Medical Director, Michael Woods, M.D. “We have more than 500 patient visits a month and have a 94% success rate. I attribute a great deal of our success to our exceptional physicians and nursing staff, all whom have professional training in the wound care specialty.”

Here’s what some of our patients have to say...
Everyone at the Center is wonderful, and they are all so knowledgeable. The doctors are super great, and I never feel rushed. Patients talk among themselves and I can say that the others I’ve spoken with have been as pleased as I have. – Bonnie Cummins

A wound developed in my abdomen after a complicated hernia surgery, and I was just amazed at the level of care and concern everyone displayed. They weren’t just concerned about my wound; they really wanted to make sure I was doing OK, too. I am in customer service and I can quickly recognize when service isn’t up to par. The service I received at Porter was top notch. – Paul Neely

At one point I was told I needed my whole leg amputated, but the people at the Center used a wound vacuum to heal me from the inside out. I ended up only losing my baby toe. Even when I’m discharged, I’ll continue to stop by, talk football with Dr. Woods and bring treats to the staff. – Vince Slack

The new chambers are so much better than the ones at the other facility They are roomier, and because the head of the bed comes up, I can watch TV without straining my neck. I come every day from Starke County and, the nurses and the doctors have all been fantastic. – Thomas Wojtysiak

I have an ulcer on my colon and was referred for hyperbaric treatment. At first I was so anxious I couldn’t stand being in the chamber. The clinical staff calmed me down and got me through those first rough days. They are truly angels sent from God. Now I’m an old pro! – Mary Boyle
