Porter Regional Hospital Announces Trauma Director in Preparation to Become a Trauma Center

Michele-O-HernPorter Regional Hospital has named Michele O’Hern as its new Director of Trauma Services. In her role, O’Hern will manage all trauma operations both administratively and clinically. She will also be responsible for education, outreach activities and serve as the trauma liaison with the Emergency Medical Services in the community that provide trauma care.

O’Hern comes to Porter from Franciscan St. Margaret Health in Dyer/Hammond where she most recently served as the Director of Emergency Services and Critical Care and interim trauma program adviser. She brings more than 26 years of healthcare expertise and 13 years of trauma leadership experience to Porter.

O’Hern received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill., and her Masters of Science in Health Service Administration from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill. She also received a Trauma Nurse Specialist licensure from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
