Porter Health Care System Honors Nurses with Candlelight Vigil During National Nurses’ Week 2015

Candlelight_vigil_Porter_Regional_May_6_2014-4Every year, National Nurses’ Week focuses attention on the diverse ways America's 3.1 million registered nurses work to save lives and to improve the health of millions of individuals. This year to pay special tribute to our nurses, Porter Health Care System will present a Candlelight Vigil on the front lawn of Porter Regional Hospital at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 6 – in honor of the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession.

During the ceremony, Porter Regional Hospital’s chaplain will conduct a Blessing of the Hands of all nurses and caregivers in attendance and Porter County Commissioner John Evans will read the Nurses’ Week proclamation.

Porter's nursing community wishes to invite all area nursing schools' practicum students to participate in the moving tribute.
