St. Monica Home’s Efforts Rewarded by Church Group

St-Monica-Homes-efforts-rewarded-by-church-groupMembers of the St. Andrew the Apostle Church Christian Formation program in Merrillville heard a presentation on March 22 from Liz Guzman-Arredondo, manager of St. Monica Home, located on the campus of Franciscan St. Margaret Health-Dyer. “I was invited by the teacher, Sally Davis, director of religious education, to speak to the class about our services and received a check for $175, which was raised during a Christmas card sale on behalf of the Respect Life program,” Guzman-Arredondo said, adding,

“It’s an honor to receive the donation from a group of caring young people, who are in the midst of their own spiritual formation. Taking the time and effort to reach out to others in need is a blessing to St. Monica Home.” Davis expressed gratitude for the home’s programs and assistance to the less-fortunate. St. Monica Home, since 1994, has offered a medically sound and emotionally healthy residential environment for women aged 12 to 21, who are awaiting the birth of a child or have recently given birth. Residents, whose average length of stay is nine months, learn positive relationships and parenting skills, under the guidance of resident advisers.
