The Rev. Francis Tebbe begins blessing with holy water the new location of the Calumet Infusion Center at Franciscan Medical Specialists Munster Medical Center, 761-45th St. The infusion center’s former location was at 7847 Calumet Ave., Munster.
The program on March 11 featured presentations by Thomas Gryzbek, president of Franciscan St. Margaret Health, which operates the center and four other area locations; Alex Stemer, MD (background-left), president of Franciscan Medical Specialists; Barbara Greene, president of Franciscan Healthcare-Munster; and Keith Reich, DO, medical director of the centers. Tebbe, director of mission and spiritual care at Franciscan Healthcare-Munster; and Sister Aloysius Albert, chaplain at Franciscan St. Margaret Health; led the group in prayer prior to the blessing. Other Franciscan St. Margaret Health Infusion Centers are located at its Hammond and Dyer campuses, at Franciscan Healthcare-Munster and at Franciscan St. Anthony Health-Crown Point. The goal of the centers, which consolidated under Franciscan St. Margaret Health’s umbrella in 2014, is to reduce the need for hospitalization, while improving quality of life for patients who need specialized treatment.
