Porter Health Care System Names Managers of the Year

Elaine-Johnson-MerkelPorter Health Care System recently named Elaine Johnson-Merkel, Director of the Women & Children’s Pavilion, as Porter's Clinical Manager-of-the-Year, and Amanda Pape, Director of Decision Support Services, as Porter's Non-Clinical Manager-of-the-Year.

As Director of the Women & Children’s Pavilion, Johnson-Merkel oversees all services provided throughout the pavilion which encompasses the entire fourth floor of Porter Regional Hospital. Dedicated areas in the pavilion include labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum; a newborn nursery; the pediatric unit; a Level II+ Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; plus additional private rooms for women of all ages.

When receiving this honor, Johnson-Merkel shared her thoughts on working with a strong, dedicated team, "I’ve learned after 28 years of experience, a leader is only as successful as those on her team. I share this recognition with everyone – staff and physicians alike – who give their all for our patients each day.”

Amanda-PapeAs director of Decision Support Services, Pape provides information related to statistics, cost, quality and profitability on projects and initiatives that support the health care system’s strategic plan.

Pape acknowledged her team as well when receiving this prestigious award and stated, "What helps me succeed are the driven professionals that I get to work with every day. It is through our dedication and passion, while focused on our mission that makes us such an accomplished team.”
