Franciscan Alliance Reps Walk the Walk to Fight Heart Disease

Walk-to-Fight-Heart-DiseaseFranciscan Alliance representatives were among hundreds of participants who turned out in force to support the war against cardiovascular disease, the number-one killer of Americans, during an annual American Heart Association Heart Walk at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point recently. They are shown just prior to a balloon release to celebrate the event.

The goal of the event, and an upcoming walk in Porter County, is to raise $500,000 to benefit the campaign. The association’s impact goal for 2020 is to improve the cardiovascular health of Americans by 20 percent, while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by the same amount.

More than 1 million participants in some 300 communities nationally are expected to raise millions of dollars through participation in Heart Walks this year.
