Porter Health System would like to invite the community to attend the grand opening of Shoreline Surgery Center located in Porter’s Portage Hospital at 3630 Willowcreek Road in Portage. The event will take place from 4:30 to 6 pm, Thursday, April 12, 2012.
The open house will feature an official ribbon cutting ceremony and offer community members the opportunity to meet the center’s highly skilled staff. Additionally, guests will be able to tour the new state-of-the-art surgery center and enjoy refreshments.
“The $2.5 million expansion of Shoreline Surgery Center is complete and we are very happy with the outcome and additional amenities offered to our patients and physicians,” said Porter CEO Jonathan Nalli. According to Nalli, the expansion project doubled the number of operating room suites from two to four and the new suites are all approximately 220 square feet larger to allow for more technically advanced procedures requiring more surgery equipment. Also, additional square footage was added to accommodate four new post-operative patient care areas.

“Patients previously accessed the surgery center through the same door as patients coming to the emergency room at the Portage Hospital,” said Denise Wible, RN, director of the surgery center. “Now for added patient convenience, there is a new separate entrance as well as a new family waiting area, family conference area and reception area.”
Additionally, construction is ahead of schedule on Porter Regional Hospital at the corner of Rt. 6 and Highway 49 with opening day now slated for August 25, 2012.
