Porter Health System Names Associate of the Year

Porter Health System recently named Sarah Grcich, BS, RN, BC, CWOCN, as Porter’s 2011 Associate of the Year.

Grcich is a Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Specialist and provides clinical care, education and support to ostomy patients, their families and other practitioners. "For me, it's all about the patients,” said Grcich in response to her recent award. “That's why I do what I do.”

Grcich began her career at Porter in 1983. In her tenure at Porter, she has literally worked in all areas of the hospital. She decided to move into her current field after both of her parents received colostomies and she realized there was a great deficit in support and education for ostomy patients - and she was going to fill it.

In addition to her role at Porter, Grcich also facilitates an Ostomy Support Group for the local community and surrounding counties.
