Porter Health System recently named Angela Scheuer, RN, the 2010 Patient Choice Award winner. The award recognizes the level of quality care, comfort and compassion offered by nurses each day. “I’m flattered to know patients recognize the amount of dedication I put into my career. It feels very rewarding knowing in some way, I have impacted the lives of people in need,” said Scheuer. 
Scheuer began her career at Porter more than seven years ago as a CNA, worked her way through nursing school, and has been a nurse for four years. She has worked on the same unit, 3-East – the Oncology floor, throughout her entire career at Porter. Scheuer’s favorite part about her job is “that everyday is a new experience, whether it’s meeting new people or learning new things.”
Maureen Hughes, Director of Porter’s 3-East unit, believes Scheuer is truly deserving of this award. “Patients describe Angie as warm, caring, intelligent, and respectful,” says Hughes. “She is a dependable, clinically expert professional nurse who truly treats her patients as she would her family. Her mood is always upbeat, cheerful yet empathetic.”
