Battle of the Blood Sugar • April 4

Pre-diabetes – higher than normal blood sugar that may lead to type 2 diabetes – is on the rise, leading to an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney damage and more. Family Medicine Physician Dr. Derek Gasper will discuss the importance of healthy blood sugar levels and how to prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 4 at in the Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East U.S. Highway 6 in Valparaiso.

Eat the Mediterranean Way • April 10

Learn the Mediterranean style of eating using fresh vegetables and cooking styles. Family Medicine Physician Dr. Zeba Ali will share tips on food choices and preparation for better health at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10 at Portage Hospital, 3630 Willowcreek Road in Portage.

Nutrition 101 • April 17

Join Family Medicine Physician Dr. Natalie Opanasets to learn the role vitamins, minerals, protein and carbohydrates play in a well-balanced diet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17 at in the Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East U.S. Highway 6 in Valparaiso.

Adenoids, Tonsils and Tubes! Oh My! • April 25

Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist Dr. Geoffrey Schwartz will explain the anatomy of your child’s ears, nose and throat and how to handle the numerous inflammations they may hold at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 at Strongbow Inn, 2405 Morthland Dr. in Valparaiso. Children are welcome to accompany parents to this presentation.

When Joint Replacement is the Best Option • April 30

Orthopedic Surgeons Drs. Michael Leland and Bruce Thoma will discuss chronic joint pain and help participants learn if they are a candidate for knee or minimally invasive hip replacement surgery. The presentation will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 at the Blue Chip Event Center, 777 Blue Chip Drive in Michigan City.
