Community Health Worker Training to be Held in Michigan City

A 5-Day Training Session to become a Community Health Worker/Certified Recovery Specialist will be held from Monday, August 29 through Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Northern Indiana Education Foundation located at 402 Franklin Street in Michigan City, Indiana.

A Community Health Worker/Certified Recovery Specialist (CHW/CRS) is a person in recovery from a mental health or addiction related disorder that demonstrates the ability to effectively manage their health and wellness for at least one year. CHW/CRS can then provide peer support services, serve as a consumer advocate and provide consumer information in the emergency, outpatient or inpatient settings.

The cost for the training is $35 non-refundable application fee and a $150 exam fee. Those that are interested must apply for the upcoming training session by turning in a completed application, copy of identification, proof of recovery, and all fees to: ASPIN Program Coordinator, 8440 Woodfield Crossing Boulevard, Suite 460, Indianapolis, IN 46240 by Friday, August 5.
