Porter Health Care System to Educate Community on Health Insurance Coverage in January 2015

Porter-New-Hospital-Coming-SoonAs the country approaches its second enrollment wave for affordable health insurance available on the Health Insurance Marketplace, Porter Health Care System invites members of the community to attend one of three educational seminars covering these new health insurance options. The free presentations will be held at:

2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East US Highway 6 in Valparaiso
2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 20, Bistro at Portage Hospital, 3630 Willowcreek Road in Portage
10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 22, Porter’s Education & Rehabilitation Center, 1401 Calumet Ave in Valparaiso.

The Marketplace offers health plans that provide a comprehensive set of benefits, and individuals cannot be denied coverage based on a pre-existing condition. Some of the health benefits include preventive care and wellness services, doctor visits, prescription drugs, hospital and emergency department care, lab services, pediatric services – and more.

The federal government can assist some individuals and families with their premium costs by providing subsidies to those who qualify based on their income. Application counselors at Porter can assist individuals and families in helping to evaluate their health plan options as well as determine whether they qualify for Medicaid coverage.

Pre-registration is required for the presentations. To register, call 1-800-541-1861.
