Porter Regional Hospital Presents Community Wellness Events for October 2014

Female Urinary Incontinence: It’s No Laughing Matter While a hearty laugh may bring it on, urinary incontinence- the uncontrolled loss of urine from your bladder- is no laughing matter. Its symptoms can range from mild leaking after a cough or sneeze to uncontrollable wetting. Join Urologist Dr. Robert Lai to learn more about urinary incontinence, pelvic floor disorders and your best treatment options. The event will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8 in the Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East US Highway 6 in Valparaiso.

The Critical Connection Between Diabetes & Heart Disease Diabetes is a red flag when it comes to heart disease. Studies show that people with diabetes are twice as likely to have heart disease or a stroke. But the good news is that by taking care of your diabetes you lower your chances of heart disease. Join Cardiologist Dr. Jay Shah to learn more about the healthy ABC treatment goals for people with diabetes or pre-diabetes. The event will be held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15 in the Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East US Highway 6 in Valparaiso.

Don’t Run From Sinus Problems Sinus problems are among the most common chronic ailments. Join Ear, Nose & Throat Physician Dr. Geoffrey Schwartz to learn more about symptom management and the various methods of treating sinus problems. The event will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21 at the Radisson, 800 E 81st Ave. in Merrillville.

Can You Hear Me? Have trouble hearing your dining partner in a busy restaurant? Want to enjoy the conversation without the constant ringing in your ears? Join Ear, Nose & Throat Physician Dr. Matthew Provenzano to learn more about how hearing loss is diagnosed and the best new treatment options. The event will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28 at the Radisson, 800 E 81st Ave. in Merrillville.
