St. Mary Medical Center Hosts Educational and Informative Stroke Symposium

Stroke-Symposium-2013To raise awareness and provide educational information during National Stroke Awareness Month to the public concerning stroke and other neurological and cardiovascular events, St. Mary Medical Center is holding their 4th annual Stroke Symposium. The FREE event takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 at the hospital, 1500 S. Lake Park Ave. in Hobart.

Informative lectures from physicians and staff will be presented on stroke-related topics including Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care, Cardiology and Acute Rehabilitation (please see the schedule below).

In addition to the presentations, the fair will include free screenings and a vendor fair highlighting various healthcare resources available to the community. Free health screenings include lipid profile and A1C screening, finger-stick glucose screening, body composition, bone density, and blood pressure. (12-hour fasting recommended for lipid profile and glucose screening.)
