10 Fun Things to Do this Weekend in Northwest Indiana: October 28-30, 2016

It's the weekend before Halloween! The ghosts, ghouls, and trick or treaters will be out and about with Halloween events all weekend! But there's more than just Halloween events happening - check out our 10 Fun Things list below, or click on our calendar dates for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Trick-or-Treat in Downtown Chesterton 
Downtown businesses will be offering trick or treating for Duneland families this year on Friday, October 28, from 4-6pm. Parents and their children should look for purple flyers in the windows of participating businesses along Indian Boundary, Calumet and Broadway in Chesterton. The Duneland Chamber will be handing out bags of goodies along with other local business in the chamber parking lot as well.

City of Portage Trunk or Treat at Founders Square 
The City of Portage will be hosting Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 28th from 5pm-8pm. The public is encouraged to attend this free event. If a business or organization would like to participate in the event they may pass out information about the business/organization but are also asked to pass out candy or goodies as well.

La Porte County Family YMCA Haunted Trail & Family Fun Night 
Come out for an evening of haunted trails, thrills and chills at our Andrew Avenue Outdoor Center, 1400 Andrew Ave, La Porte. This spooky event, hosted by volunteers and La Porte County Family YMCA staff, will be a night to remember this Halloween. Walk through the haunted woods or enjoy festive concessions at the pavilion. This event is for the whole family, but we warn you, it will be SCARY!

Almost, Maine- VHS Drama Club Fall Play 
Come check our VHS Drama Club's fall production! Tickets are $10 general admission and can be purchased ahead of time through Memorial Opera House's Box Office: (219) 548-9137. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door. All performances will take place at Memorial Opera House in downtown Valparaiso!

Hobart Events' Pumpkins in the Park
Join Hobart Events for a fun filled Halloween themed evening in Festival Park! We have tons of fun things happening throughout the park. The Code Names perform from 4-5:30pm, but the festival will also feature Hocus Pocus Movie in the Park, a Pumpkin Paddle, coloring contest, knockerball, free hayrides, a fall photo display, campfire, vendors, food truck and of course, candy!

South Haven Fire Fright Fest 
South Haven Fire Jr. Firefighters are hosting a Fright Fest. We will have a haunted hayride, music, and a bonfire! Come out and join us for a good time and make this event great! Please share this with your friends and family. We look forward to seeing everyone!

Zao Island Creatures, Critters, and Capernaum 
Take advantage of the Zao Island Halloween Attraction Package for a great deal on games and attractions! Costume contest during the concert/party with prizes for childern and adults. Dress as an animal for a chance to win a special prize!

8th Annual Halloween Party at Blue Chip Casino
The Blue Chip Casino will be hosting our 8th Annual Halloween Party at the Stardust Event Center! Register from 9-10:30pm, when the contest begins. The winner will recieve $3,000, plus free entry to It's Vegas Baby! The 2nd prize is $1,000 and 3rd prize is $500. Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra Mahler 
Join the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra and Music Director/Conductor Kirk Muspratt for Mahler’s transformative Fifth Symphony at “Mahler 5” Friday, October 28, 2016 at 7:30 pm at The Auditorium at Bethel Church in Crown Point. The concert will feature Chicago Symphony Cellist Loren Brown. Maestro Muspratt will conduct a pre-concert lecture for ticket holders at 6:15 pm.
