La Porte WinterFest (in all its glory)
This is a weekend-long event and we're mashing it all into one. Dodgeball, Zumba, ice sculptures, wagon rides, sled races, cupcakes... It's all here. Click here to see all of the LaPorte WinterFest events.

Meet Local Author Nashanta Robinson
Meet Nashanta Robinson as she introduces her story to the public at her book release party Meet the Author – A Black Tie Affair on Thursday, January 22nd at 7pm at Woodland Park, 2100 Willowcreek Road in Portage. Doors open at 6pm. Guest will receive light refreshments and leave with a copy of Nashanta’s book. There will also be a silent auction where all proceeds go to benefit non-profit community health center, NorthShore Health Centers. 

Lake County Courthouse Foundation Presents "Trial by Jury"
A Comic Farce in a One-Act Opera involving a court case about marriage -- the first major work by Gilbert and Sullivan, the authors of such operettas as "The Pirates of Penzance," "The Mikado," and "HMS Pinafore." Anyone who loves comedy, musical theatre, or British farce will enjoy this evening's entertainment in the historic "Grand Old Lady," the Lake County Courthouse in Downtown Crown Point! Don't miss it!

Grab your kids, grab your wife, and get out to Urschel Pavilion for open skate this weekend! 

Portage Rebuilding Together Annual Pancake Breakfast
Saturday, January 23rd come out to the Portage Rebuilding Together Annual Pancake Breakfast from 8 to 11 am at the Bonner Senior Center, 5800 Lexington Ave. A tastier breakfast you could not find made by the hands of those that help people in Portage Township keep safe and comfortable in their homes. Pancakes, sausage, coffee, juice and milk will round out the breakfast. There will also be a whole host of toppings for those tasty pancakes. Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for kids 5 to 10 and 5 and under 5 is free.. All profits will benefit Rebuild Day this year. Advance tickets will available at the Bonner Senior Center, Salon 360 and City Hall Building Department. 

13th Annual Gardening Show
We invite you to explore the Bicentennial Event theme, “Celebrating Our Roots – Growing Our Future,” at the 13th Annual Gardening Show on Sat., Jan. 23, at the Porter County Expo Center, 215 E. Division Rd., Valparaiso, IN from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Big Barn Beer Fest
We are so excited for Big Barn Beer Fest and we know you are too! Follow the link to purchase tickets http://www.countylineorchard.com/bbbf. For those that don't know the event, it will be held in the timber frame barn at County Line Orchard. You will have a chance to sample some of the best craft beer from all over the region. In addition to unlimited sampling of over 100 craft beers, there will also be a food buffet and live music. 

Halfway to Pierogi Fest
Please join Nomad Planets as we play for YOU at "Halfway To Pierogi Fest" on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at EAT in downtown Hammond. We'll play a set of original tunes to get ourselves good and ready, and then play AND RECORD our polka set live before your very eyes and ears. Those tunes will then be pressed to CD and made available for purchase at Pierogi Fest in July of 2016. 

The Memorial Opera House Unplugged with Patti Shaffner
Join me and David Cowan as we kick off a new series at The Memorial Opera House in Downtown Valparaiso. This upstairs performance space offers both regular seating as well as 6 comfy couch seats and a bar! Seating is limited to 36 people so get your reservations soon. Tickets are $18 regular and $20 for the couch seats. 

Pant, Paint, & Pour Fundraiser for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at Running Vines Winery Chesterton
Fundraiser for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, organized by local Boston Marathon 2016 Charity Runner, Martha Kearney. Paint "Indiana Dunes" with us on the main level at Running Vines...OR....go for a run with Coach Steve Kearney. The run is free.
