Portage Parks Community Rummage Sale
The Portage Parks Department will host its Inaugural Community Rummage Sale on August 28th and 29th from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Oakwood Hall of Woodland Park. Those interested in renting a 10x10 space can sign up online by following the link below. Booth rental is $15 and tables are available for rent at $5 each. This is a two-day event. Setup for vendors is on Thursday, August 27th from 5 to 9 pm. Contact Lori at lwilkie@portage-in.com with questions. 

‘Friday Nite Live in the Park’ at Haven Hollow
You’ll find BEER BRATS & BANDS at Portage Township Parks’ ‘Friday Nite Live in the Park’! Come to Haven Hollow Park (330 W. 700 N., Valparaiso, IN 46385) Friday, August 28th for a night of entertainment under the stars with The Music of Chad Burton and Nawty! 

Cinderella at Chicago Street
We all know the story of Cinderella, a girl who goes from rags to riches. Chicago Street Theatre in Valparaiso is performing that classic tale, but with a twist. A special character adds some pizazz and beautiful composition to make this a great show for families to see. 

An Evening Under the Stars
Join the Parks Department for an evening of Big Band and swing music under the stars. The band "Bopology" boasts a line-up of talent from Chicago and the East coast performing stylish swing and "Rat Pack" music. The band features a piano, bass, vocals, saxophone and trumpet. There will be limited seating and lawn chairs or blankets are recommended. Concessions will be available. 

European Market
oin Us at Chesterton’s European Market every Saturday from the beginning of May through the end of October in historic downtown Chesterton. From 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, visit us at Broadway and Third Street, next to Thomas Centennial Park. We’re located two miles south of the Indiana Dunes at Lake Michigan, and our Market is easily accessible from Interstate 94 to exit 26A or via the 80/90 Toll Road to exit 31. 

3rd Annual Brewers Brawl
Come to the 3rd annual Brewers Brawl on August 29 at Fox Memorial Park in La Porte. Sample craft brews and cast your vote for the Best of Brawl award while enjoying beautiful views and helping to support the Warriors First Foundation. Regional brewers will compete in a juried competition to win best in class awards. 

Whiting Wine.Dine.Shop
One of the coolest and hippest events in Whiting is Wine.Dine.Shop. If you haven't been a part of it, get your tickets early and jump into the fun this year. This year we are moving it up a bit earlier so get your tickets and passports to all the fun. The event will be Saturday, August 29 from 11 am - 3 pm. For only $10 you'll get a passport and a great orange bag to tour downtown Whiting, where you'll enjoy wine tastings, food tastings and fun games at nearly 20 stops. Not only do you get to try the latest tasty wines but you get to try delicious food from some of Whiting's best restaurants. Don't forget shopping because along the way local shops will feature games to win prizes and will be carrying all the hottest gift items for the upcoming holidays. Tickets will start to go on sale mid-July, so get them quickly. Tickets will be available at The Junkyard T-Shirt Shop, 1504 119th St. in Whiting and the WR Chamber, 1417 119th St. in downtown Whiting. 

Educational Helpers Fundraiser
With Homecoming Dance season coming upon us, this is a great chance for moms and daughters to enjoy a fashion show full of beautiful dresses! It will be held on Sunday, August 30 from 11-2:30 at Avalon Manor Banquet Hall in Merrillville, IN.

Opera in Barker Mansion Gardens
Back by popular demand, local musician Lee Meyer will present entertainment in the Barker Mansion gardens on Sunday, August 30 at 6:30 p.m. Meyer has called upon the talents of local musicians to organize an enjoyable program of operas performed in the concert style. The program features the short, one-act opera “A Hand of Bridge” by Barber and Menotti. Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” will combine singing and spoken dialogue in the form of a fairy tale opera. Guests will hear solos, duets, trios, quartett, quintet, and even a chorus number. Complimenting Meyer, those offering their musical talents at the concert will be Deborah Beien, Howard Brenneman, Noel Carlson, Frank Casorio, Alicia Ebaugh, Kathi R. Jones, Marge LaMothe, Krystal Levi, Dan Moser and Pat Potratz. 

‘Dodge Booster Club Fundraiser’
On August 29. between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, La Porte Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM SRT (LPCDJR) will team up with students at La Porte High School and the La Porte High School Marching Band to host a “Dodge Booster Club Fundraiser” event at the high school to benefit the school.
