Halloween is upon us! This week's 10 Fun Things takes a look at some fun activities taking place outside of the city-wide trick or treating, and you can find those hours here. There are fundraisers, fright nights, and fun for all this weekend, so enjoy it!

Chicago Street Theatre Double Features 
Don't let their smiling faces fool you - FRANKENSTEIN's creature is truly terrifying! Don't miss the final 2 performances of this classic horror story. The special effects and technical marvels are some of the best ever seen on the CST stage. Join us this Thursday at 8pm followed by a post-play discussion or enjoy a chilling performance on Halloween night this Friday at 8pm. The final Saturday performance featuring a party with Svengoolie is sold-out. Kids and adults alike are delighting in our upstairs Wood Studio show - SCARY GODMOTHER. As of this morning, there are only XX tickets left so call today if you'd like to attend one of the last 2 performances this Saturday at 1pm and 3pm.

Scare Away Hunger at Ravensfell Manor on October 31st 
Help us scare away hunger at Ravenfell Manor, 715 Alice Street, Kouts, Indiana on October 31st from 4pm to 9pm. Visit Ravenfell Manor Yard Haunt and bring along a donation of non-perishable food to help the local food bank this winter. Ravenfell Manor is part of the "Haunts Against Hunger", a charity founded seven years ago by Linda Blair of 'The Exorcist" fame as a way to get people involved in helping people who were facing difficulties getting food for their families.

"The Mystery of Edwin Drood" Opens October 31st 
Memorial Opera House brings to the stage the dark, sinister and musical comedy -- “The Mystery Of Edwin Drood” -- a novel by the great Charles Dickens that was left unfinished due to his death in 1870. Performances: Fridays -- October 31, November 7 and 14 / Saturdays -- November 1, 8, and 15, / Sundays -- November 2, 9, and 16. Performances are 8:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2:00 p.m. Sundays. Performances run approximately 2.5 hours, including a 15 minute intermission

6th Annual Halloween Party at It's Vegas Baby! 
Don't miss the 6th Annual Halloween Party at It's Vegas Baby! on Friday, October 31 featuring live music by P.S. Dump Your Boyfriend. The event features a costume contest from 11:30 pm to 1:30 pm; register from 5 pm to 11 pm. First prize is $500 and a $100 voucher at The Game; second prize is $300 with a $75 voucher at The Game and third prize is $200 with a $50 voucher at The Game. First round judging will be held between 11:30 pm and midnight with the final round judging by audience applause between 1 am and 1:30 am.

Taltree Arboretum & Gardens to Hold First Ever Taltree 10K November 1 
Taltree Arboretum & Gardens will host its first ever Taltree 10K run/walk on Saturday, November 1 at 9 a.m. This family friendly 6.2-mile trail run is for serious and not-so-serious runners and walkers. Awards will be given for top overall male and female finishers, top male and female masters and top three finishers in age groups from 14 and under through over 80.

Dia de los Muertos, "Day of the Dead" Celebration at Lake Station 
Neighbors' Educational Opportunities (NEO) English as a Second Language (ESL) program is partnering with the Lake Station Public Library to conduct their 2nd annual Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead celebration. The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 1st from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Lake Station Public Library on Central Avenue in Lake Station. Guests of all ages are invited to attend this festive and joyous celebration of life with their families.

Rittenhouse Senior Living of Portage to Host Vera Bradley Bingo Fundraiser 
Please join us on November 1, 2014 from 1-3p.m. for 20 games of Bingo; winners will receive Vera Bradley items including purses, travel totes and much more to choose from. Tickets for Bingo are $20.00/advance, $15/65+, $25/door. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. All proceeds will be donated to Bonner Senior Center in Portage and Maria Reiner Center in Hobart.

November 1 Witches Brew to Support Families in Need 
The Portage Township YMCA and YMCA event sponsor, St. Mary Medical Center are pleased to invite the community to the WITCHES BREW on Saturday, Nov. 1st, 1-4p.m. at Woodland Park 2100 Willowcreek Rd., Portage, IN. Over 20 regional microbrews will be sampling their beverages. The event will offer live music, silent auction items donated from local merchants, fellowship and entertainment featuring a solo acoustic performance from Chad Clifford of the Craw Puppies and Front Porch Music

6th Annual Worthy Women Recovery Home Dinner

The Rocky Horror Picture Show in NWI 
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 1975 musical comedy horror film adapted from the popular musical stage play scripted and composed by Richard O'Brien. The film is a tribute to the science fiction and "B" horror movies of the late 1940's through the early 1970s. Still in limited release 37 years after its premiere, it has the longest-running theatrical release in film history. And you can be a part of the fun -- Help Me Mommy, NWI's own Rocky Horror shadow cast, performs every Saturday at midnight at The Art Theatre in downtown Hobart, Indiana!
