A Season to Remember

portage-music-inthe-parkThe 2012 Music in the Park Season is over but not without many highlights and great memories. Change can be beneficial and rewarding when it produces successful results.

One major highlight this year was the change to all performances being held inside Woodland Park. This change produced large crowds every Tuesday night, no matter what the weather and having a bar available for the purchase of beverages helped create an atmosphere of an evening out for our guests.

The audience signing along and dancing in the aisles created memories of so many people having an evening out filled with smiles, socializing, and being truly entertained with the twelve acts that were booked for this year’s series.

The Portage Chamber working with the Portage Parks and the Portage Live Entertainment Association are very grateful to all of our sponsors. Many of our patrons expressed their gratefulness to our sponsors to me at the show and by phone at my office.

As plans begin for the creation of our 2013 Music in the Park Series, two more changes will be discussed. The possibility of a few of our acts performing twice during the summer, and adding a few weeks to the season by extending the series to fourteen or fifteen weeks. The Portage Chamber will be pursuing five or six new sponsors to make these possible changes a reality.
