Each week we bring you 10 Fun Things to Do in Northwest Indiana so you are never without something to do! This Memorial Day Weekend has some theatre showings, a talent show, a preschool prom, a UFC viewing opportunity, a parade, some fundraising races and more!

Chicago Street Theatre Presents: Rabbit Hole  
On Friday, May 23, Chicago Street Theatre is proud to present Rabbit Hole by David Lindsay-Abaire. The play, which won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Drama runs May 23 through June 7 at the theatre located at 154 W. Chicago Street. Rabbit Hole tells the story of a couple struggling to come to terms with the loss of their three year old son, Danny and the affects his death has on their family.

7th Annual Kent's Run  
The race has been established to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and to honor the life of Kent Ribordy, a Boone Grove High School student / athlete who passed away in June 2007. Kent's Run is proud to announce that the 2013 race raised $42,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The support of our sponsors, participants and those of you that donated money, is making a difference. Thank you! This is proof that Kent is still making a strong presence in our lives, and pushing us on! In six years, KR5 has raised over $202,000!

Portage Distinguished Young Woman 
It is the 34th anniversary of the Portage Distinguished Young Woman Scholarship Program. The program, formerly known as Junior Miss, underwent a name change at the national level in June 2010 to further promote the idea that this is not a beauty pageant, but a scholarship program which rewards young ladies for their excellence in diverse areas: scholastics, interviewing skill, talent, fitness and self-expression

Griffith YMCA 2014 Preschool Prom  
Don't forget to sign up for the Preschool Prom on May 24! Preschoolers ages 3-5yrs can bring the adult of their choice to dance the night away to a live DJ. Dinner and Photo included!

Wirt-Emerson Dance Department Presents: "Reflections"  
On Friday, May 23rd, and Saturday, May 24th, "Reflections" will be coming to the Writ-Emerson Auditorium. Featuring choreography by Emerson VPA Alumni: Asia Dickens, Amansu Eason, Davonna Edwards, Renaldo Gardner, Joshua Ishmon, and Briana Robinson.

Memorial Opera House: Moonlight Cabaret and Cabernet  
The Moonlight Cabaret and Cabernet featuring the Leading Ladies of The Opera House will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at The Opera House. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres, and cocktails starting at 7 p.m.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show in NWI 
See The Rocky Horror Picture Show every Saturday in NW Indiana! Tickets are $8 and includes the movie, full shadow cast, and audience participation. Help Me Mommy has been northwest Indiana’s Rocky Horror Shadowcast since July 26th, 2008. Based out of the historic Art Theater in the city of Hobart, Help Me Mommy has been steadily resupplying “The Region” (of Northwest Indiana) with a healthy dose of counter culture and absolute pleasure!

Portage Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony  
The parade officially begins at noon. The parade route begins at the Portage Mall and ends at Calvary Cemetery. The Memorial Day Ceremony will begin once everyone from the parade arrives (approximately 12:45pm). At the end of the ceremony, Mayor Snyder will be signing the Veterans Hiring Preference Ordinance that was recently passed by the City Council.

Trail Run Extreme 12K Fundraiser Event for Gabriel's Horn Homeless Shelter  
The Trail Run Extreme 12K will benefit Gabriel's Horn Homeless Shelter. The race will take place on Monday, May 26th at the Imagination Glen East Park. Entry fees: 12K Run—Online $20.
