10 Fun Things To Do This Weekend in Northwest Indiana: Antiques Show, One Night Jam, and Theatrical Opening

Shake Off Cabin Fever
Mental Health America presents “Treasures of the Past”—Antiques and Collectibles Show. On Saturday, March 1 from 9 - 4 and Sunday, March 2 from 10 - 4, the Porter County Expo Center will be transformed into a treasure trove of antiques and collectibles. Shop till you drop- rejuvenate with lunch from B&J concessions, Enjoy MHA's famous hand-dipped chocolate pretzels.

United Way of Porter County's high school council, the Power of Youth, will host the first county wide dance marathon for high school students. Students will enjoy six hours of DJ'ed music, donated food, games and a dance off competition. All funds raised will contribute to the Power of Youth's student led grant allocation to be held this spring.

CST One Night Jam Presents Derek St. Holmes
Chicago Street Theatre's 'One Night Jam' concert series welcomes classic rock icon Derek St. Holmes for a solo acoustic show on Sunday afternoon, March 2nd. Known mostly for his work with Ted Nugent, St. Holmes is the voice (and co-writer) behind such massive hits as "Hey, Baby," "Just What The Doctor Ordered," and "Stranglehold" among others.

Footlight Theatre Presents "Love Letters"
Footlight Theatre's latest fundraiser, "Love Letters," on March 1 and 2, eschews the complications of a traditional theater set to hit audiences with an emotional wallop. The plot is simple – two actors read a lifetime of letters between friends and sometime-lovers. The characters they relate are much more complex.

CHS to Present Family Theatre Production
Chesterton High School Family Theatre will present The Princess Who Had No Name on Friday and Saturday, February 28 and March 1. The play weaves together the feel of a classic fairy tale, the delight of a fractured fairy tale and the fun of a mystery in need of solving, and you can’t go wrong with this hilarious, expertly-woven romp!

Season Opens with Another Premiere at the Towle Theater
The Towle Theater opens its 11th season with the Northwest Indiana premiere of Christopher Durang and Peter Melnick's Adrift in Macao. Set in 1952 in Macao, China, Adrift in Macao is a light-hearted, playful parody of two Hollywood genres; the film noir movies, in which the leading man is always mysterious and can't go home for murky reasons he won't say, and the less known "exotic adventure" movie set in Hollywood versions of China or Morocco or Trinidad.

VHS Presents Improv Games: Catching Laughter
Valparaiso High School Drama Club presents our annual improv show! There will be three show dates: Thursday, February 27 at 7 pm, Friday, February 28 at 7 pm, and Saturday, March 1 at 7 pm.

1st Annual PHS Art Show
The Portage High School Art Department is pleased to announce its First Annual Art Show to be held February 26 through March 12 at the Portage University Center on Central Avenue. The show is entitled Art on the Lake and will feature all different media. People can view them during the Center's business hours from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

La Porte County Library Hosts 2nd Annual Bridal Show
La Porte County Public Library will host its 2nd Annual Bridal Show Saturday, March 1. This Bridal Show will once again feature La Porte County businesses including merchants, caterers, and planners that can help future brides make their wedding an event that everyone will remember. There will be great ideas shared, treats, and giveaways at this free to the public event.

St. Matthias Parish to Host Carnivale Celebration
St. Matthias Parish in Crown Point, Indiana will host a Carnivale Celebration on Saturday, March 1st. This evening for charity will provide a Las Vegas Night, 4 Rotating Buffets, Bingo, Basket Raffles, Live Auction, Poker Tournament, Grand Raffle, and Paczki Parade.
