Indiana Welcome Center Holiday Events Begin with ‘A Major Event’!

Activities to include scavenger hunt, photos with Santa, bingo and much more

A-Christmas-Story-ExhibitThe Indiana Welcome Center’s annual exhibit, “A Christmas Story” Comes Home, kicks off the fun with “A Major Event” on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

While viewing the exhibit, which includes six animated window scenes created based on iconic scenes from the movie, visitors may also vote on their favorite trees that are decorated by local businesses and organizations.

Santa will be atop his mountain from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. to take photos for $5 each. Attendees may also participate in a scavenger hunt and bingo games, decorate cookies for $2 or create crafts for $1. A train will be offering rides throughout the event for $1 each.

“A Major Event” will also include live entertainment and viewings of the holiday classic “A Christmas Story” in the theater at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

The “A Christmas Story” Comes Home exhibit, which is presented in agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, will run through Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015. The Indiana Welcome Center is open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is located at the intersection of I-80/94 and Kennedy Avenue South in Hammond, Indiana.
