Museum and Sorority Partner for Fall Harvest Fest

porter-county-museumOn Friday, October 25, the Porter County Museum will be taking part in downtown Valparaiso’s Fall Harvest Festival. Children of all ages will find no shortage of activities in which to participate from 4-6pm, when the museum opens its doors to trick-or-treaters from the community looking for Halloween shenanigans.

Kappa Delta Pi, the local educational sorority from Valparaiso University, will be sponsoring educational activities and games on the first floor of the museum, where children will be able to win prizes, create, and put their minds to work.

Additionally, regular exhibits will continue to be fun and festive for the whole family. The new Prehistoric Porter County exhibit allows young archeologists the chance to dig for “fossils,” learn about the prehistoric creatures that used to walk the earth, and gaze at the massive authentic mastodon bones in the museum’s collection.

Meanwhile, parents can take a stroll through the Central Stories Project, recently the recipient of the History Project of the Year from the Indiana Historical Society, and revisit the architecture and memories surrounding one of Valparaiso’s most well loved neighborhoods.

And who knows—Porter County cowboy Bronco John may just be spotted strolling around the museum with stories of his own to share!
