Tickets Available for Spay-Neuter Fundraiser

Spay-ghetti-dinner-2012-105The Kibble Kitchen Pet Pantry will host its second annual SPAY-GHETTI DINNER from 4 to 9 pm Sunday, November 3 in the Grand Oakwood Ballroom at Woodland Park, 2100 Willowcreek Road, Portage, Indiana. Funds raised from the event will go toward free or reduced-cost spay or neuter surgeries for qualified Porter County residents. The evening will feature a pasta dinner, wine-tasting and sale, 50-50 and prize raffles, bake sale, and a silent auction.

Last year’s Spay-ghetti Dinner attracted 300 supporters who contributed to the $5,000 raised that evening. Since April, 2011 The Kibble Kitchen Pet Pantry, a not-for-profit animal surrender prevention program in Porter County, Indiana, has provided free food and supplies to the pets of more than 300 qualified families while promoting responsible pet ownership. “When we discovered that many of those who sought our help could not afford to spay or neuter their pets, we worked to provide them with discounted surgeries,” said founder and President Michelle Duca of Portage. “We’d like to take a further -step toward lessening the homeless pet population by offering free or reduced-cost spay or neuter surgeries to those who can’t afford it.”

Duca said altering pets is an important step toward lessening the burden on shelters and the community, reducing the suffering of homeless pets, and improving the health of companion animals. For those who would like to help but are unable to attend the dinner, Kibble Kitchen offers a sponsorship program that provides a number of tickets to low income or homeless individuals in the community.
