Six Honored with “Good Life Awards” at Inaugural Fundraiser at Industrial Revolution

Around 150 people packed Industrial Revolution Eatery & Grille on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 for the inaugural Good Life Awards, a fundraising benefit for the Valpo Schools Foundation and the Porter County Career and Technical Center.

Jon Groth, Olga Velazquez, Ivan Bodensteiner, Jonathan Nalli, and Cathy Brown were given awards by publisher Chris Mahlmann for their energetic support for the Ideas in Motion Media online communities – ValpoLife.com, PortageLife.com, and LaPorteCountyLife.com – and the good impact they have had within their communities.

Mike Leeson, owner of Industrial Revolution and president of Synergy Steel Structures, designed the Good Life Award statues himself, crafting six statues for the recipients. Mahlmann recognized his wife, Natalie Mahlmann, for supporting him and the LIFE business throughout all the hills and valleys that come with launching and building a business.

DJ Wade Breitzke from 27 Entertainment kept the party going and got people moving on the dance floor as the Industrial Revolution staff provided their usual stellar service to go along with the delicious buffet for all of the attendees.

Thanks again to all of our sponsors, who helped us raise the funds for the Valpo Schools Foundation and the Porter County Career Center, all while supporting the concept of good news! Sponsors included: Horizon Bank, 27 Entertainment, Rhame & Elwood, McAfee Animal Hospital, NIPSCO, Direct Mail ADvantage, the Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation, North Coast Distributors, Vale Park Animal Hospital, Task Force Tips, Sage-Popovich, Steindler Signs, Arnell Chevy-Kia, Physicians for Women, Extra Mile Fitness and the Chesterton/Duneland Chamber of Commerce.

The event was an awesome success, thanks to so many who have worked to support the mission. Check out the photo gallery from the event here, and check back for a video of the presentation later this week!
