Donation Honors Vets with Free Admission to Annual Lubeznik Arts Festival

A $2,500 donation to Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) by the Michigan City Public Art Committee (MAC) will honor veterans by inviting them to attend LCA’s annual summer arts festival for free.

The Lubeznik Arts Festival (LAF), now in its 37th year, will attract thousands of shoppers and arts enthusiasts to the Lubeznik Center campus, 101 W. 2nd St., in Michigan City on August 18 and 19, 2018.

LAF features juried works by over 80 artists, a family scavenger hunt, and plenty of food by leading local purveyors. Community booths at this year’s festival will feature works of art by the LCA’s Teen Arts Council, LCA’s Area Artists’ Association, and the Social and Learning Institute. The City of Michigan City will also be represented.

Visitors will be able to see LCA’s marquee exhibition, “WARHOL: ICON AND INFLUENCE, as well as see special exhibits of works by Beverly Shores multi-media photography artist Joel Degrand and the Thaddeus C Gallery from LaPorte. The South Shore Dance Alliance will present a performance inspired by the Warhol show.

Lubeznik-Arts-Fest-2018-02Admission to LAF is $5 and is free to LCA members, children 16 and under, as well as active military personnel with ID and, through MAC’s support, veterans. All festival proceeds are invested back into the community through the Lubeznik Center’s year-round arts and education programming.

This year, by honoring those who serve our country with free admission, the festival looks forward to its greatest celebration yet.

LCA would like to express gratitude to its 2018 LAF sponsors: 1st Source Bank, Advanced Communications, Bulk Equipment Corporation, Current Electric, Haas & Associates, Innovative Markets Inc., Lakeshore Public Media, LaPorteCountyLife.com, LaPorte County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, McDonalds of LaPorte County, Michigan City Public Art Committee, The News Dispatch, NIPSCO, South Shore Convention & Visitor’s Authority, The Times Media Company, WIMS/WHFB Radio and WNIT Public TV.
